Mondays

October 16th – November 13th 2023 5 week session

2:50-4:15pm Kids Art-making, Drawing, Painting, & Mixed Media – Age 5-12 $155

  • Let’s get our hands dirty! During this 5 week session we focus on learning the core values when experimenting with common art supplies. We touch on colour mixing, blending, and texture, as well as storytelling and imagination. *Vortex studio Pick up at Wakefield school
  • 4:30-8:00pm – Private or semi private group booking time available

P.D. Day Art Camp at Vortex

9:00-3:00pm

Come spend the day at Vortex getting creative! PD camp runs 9:00-3:00pm. Similar to our summer programs, we spend our days fully immersed in the wonders of art making from painting and drawing, to 3D crafts Everyday brings new projects!

DIY Boho Holiday Decor 

November 18th 10:30-12:30pm

Do you love handmade holiday decorations but wish they were more “Cute” White and gold or made with pretty wool… This is the workshop for you! We are bring you the boho version of cozy winter holiday decor. In this workshop we will be making wool christmas trees and a behemian christmas inspired garland with twine, tassels and beads and bells. The ultimate pretty  girls holiday get together activity. 

Step by step winter wonderland painting 

Friday December 8th 6:00-8:00pm

  • Are you looking for the perfect holiday decor painting? Try making it yourself in this fun 2 hour step-by-step painting class. Each person will make a 16×20 winter wonderland acrylic painting that’s ready for the mantle.

Family fun holiday crafts

Saturday December 9th 9:30-11:00 am 

$32 per garden & child 

  • Lets get creative and make some fun holiday memories. In this morning workshop family’s can work together to make handmade festive ornaments, garlands and keepsakes perfect to hold deer or share with loved ones. We welcome all ages.

*Note the space is a full time art studio with lots of small objects around. We do not recommend this class for children who still put items in their mouth.

Understanding mixed-media art supplies & adding photography

Saturday January 26th – 9:30:-4:00 pm

$275 Per person

Whether you are new to art making or you are wanting to scale up your existing practice with new materials this is the workshop for you. Through hands-on experience artist Stella Pagani goes over different mixed-media supplies and their numerous capabilities including the addition of collage and image transfer. Each person will work on individual mini artworks that showcase each of the numerous supplies’ unique possibilities. This workshop will focus on: Acrylic paint and mediums, watercolour pastels, crayons, markers and sticks, chalk pastels, oil pastels, sealants and varnish, incorporating image transfer, and collage. We welcome artists of all abilities as our projects – although filled with lots of information – are adapted to all skill levels. 

Host Stella Pagani is a photo based mixed-media artist and educator. Having worked in interdisciplinary arts for over 15 years she has an extremely extensive in-depth understanding of how complex and diverse these supplies can be, and how truly incredible the outcome can be when you find the right one for your practice.
