Vortex Studio Summer camp update – Covid-19
– Thank you for your interest in Vortex Studio. Due to Covid-19 we have unfortunately had to make some changes to our Summer plans. For the foreseeable future we will be closed for classes and camp. This decision is not one that we take lightly. We LOVE hosting summer art camp but as this is such an uncertain time, and children and our staff’s safety comes first, we have decided not to run a full summer of camp.
As there has not been any information as to the government’s intentions and safety guidelines regarding summer camp just yet, we are unable to move forward with any solid plans. As it stands right now we can confirm that there will definitely be no camp for June and most of July.
We have spent our last few summers running an amazingly creative and all-encompassing art camp. We do know that if we run summer camp this year the outline of our program will have to be very different with much fewer campers. Because of this we are concerned about keeping the integrity of an openly creative and positive environment where children feel safe and at home. Where they have the full use of all the supplies in the studio and the freedom to explore ideas as they come. This may not be possible this year, as well as the ability to get quality art supplies. As the weeks pass and more information becomes available we will continue to monitor the current situation and update the website as we know more.
We understand some families’ dire need for summer camp as their work situations do not allow for summers off so this is the main reason we are even considering running camp at all. If you know that you will be in need of camp and would like to be added to a

Registration for Full Week 2020 Summer Camp opens February 6th 2021
SINGLE DAYS OF CAMP–> We will not be registering for single days till May 10th unless otherwise stated below. (some weeks take early single day registration as of February 6th. those weeks have photos under the title of the week)
Registration for single day camp is only available on weeks where we do not have group projects or long multi day projects. These weeks do not accommodate single days.
We do not offer any single day registration for- Graffiti Camp, Plays, Masks & Murals week, Installation & Public Art Week and any other week that is sold out for full week registration before May 10th. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
-Single day registration is based on availability and is not garnered to be available for all dates.
PLEASE NOTE: –> Space will be reserved according to date of registration provided that tuition is received in full. Unfortunately, we cannot hold space without payment.

Vortex is excited to host 10 full weeks of summer art camp this year!
We have 3 NEW fun themed weeks! “Installation & Public Art Week”, “Teen All of the Art”, “Yoga Art and Food”! We also have the return of some of our past favorites with all new exciting projects as well as reoccurring ones with a special spin. Your kids will have a great time getting their hands dirty and will be proud to show off their amazing new art!
Camp runs June 25th – August 28th. Please note we do not run camp on June 25th & July 1st due to civic holidays. As Vortex only takes 25 kids for camp, please be mindful we can not hold spots until they have been paid for

(Before and after care available upon request for $15 Per Hour (discounts not applicable) Please note we DO need advanced notice for before and after care.

About Vortex Studio
Vortex Studio is so excited to host our third summer of camp! Last year was a blast and this year we are that much more excited to offer new projects, theme weeks, great new staff, a puppy Picasso and a second floor of fun!

Please note we pride ourselves in always offering new activities each week as to welcome multiple week campers. We are happy to host children ages 5-14 and each activity will be geared towards the child/youth’s interests and abilities.
Please note we are a creative art camp and we spend 80% of our time making art. The rest of our time is spent playing games, eating and relaxing in the sun!
We will be separating our groups weekly based on how long children can work on projects rather then age. We will have the “longer focus group” & “Art & play” group. These groups will be determined once we meet our campers. Please note: All art instructions are given in english.
Our Location
Vortex Art Studio is located in the beautiful Wakefield village. We are a 1300 SF studio space that spans over 2 floors, we have 2 acres of outdoor work & play space, A large deck that opens up from the main studio, a sensory garden, sprinklers to keep cool and lots of blocked off space for drop off and pick up parking.
Please Let us know if you are traveling from the Wakefield/Chelsea QC area and would like to be added to the parents car pool list.
Vortex Pets
Vortex LOVES animals. We have 3 permanent in house pets. Picasso the puppy, Birdy the teeny weenie kitty, Leonardo Da Vinci the old man ginger and two frequent flyers Indy Angelicas mini Ausi & Zoo Zo – Mumma Susans puppy. (Owners Stellas Moms dog & Picassos sister). Please note- The cats will most likely be re located for summer camp.
More detailed info About Summer Camp
During our Art Camps, children learn a wide variety of creative skills and leave with a true understanding of art making and the creative process.
They’ll learn a large variety of art fundamentals such as: Painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, pastels, printmaking, found materials, sewing, crafts and much more! All kids are encouraged to bring any personal mementos & photographs they’d like to use to add into the artwork.
–What to expect from our classes-
We have an exciting lesson plan set to ease the kiddos into art making in a positive environment using a wide variety of tools and supplies.
-We do supply all of the art materials needed for the classes but we ask that your

-A sketch book to record their ideas and visual notes
-weather appropriate clothing for outdoors time – sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bathing suite for sprinkler
-A towel
-An extra set of clothing incase they get wet or need to change
• There are snack breaks and lunch breaks throughout the day. Parents please supply at least 2 snacks and one lunch for the day.
-A water bottle
-Sunscreen
-Closed toe shoes. We do not allow sandals in the studio
